The Kennedys\, Songwriting duo Pete and Maura Kennedy make a strong return to the studio and stage after three years of weekly live-streamed l ockdown-era concerts. They took the opportunity to explore classic songwri ting in-depth\, performing over a thousand songs during the pandemic. That vast overview strengthened and refined their own writing and laid the fou ndation for this new collection of original\, socially-conscious songs.

“After such a deep dive into American roots music\, we felt like we had a new set of writing tools. We were ready to create this body of work\ , and there’s just SO much to write about\,” says Maura. “During our five- year hiatus from writing and recording\, America changed in massive ways\, divisive ways that have shaken our whole foundation. That has to be addre ssed by creative artists\, those of us who have a voice to speak for other s. Our love of the great things about this country\, things that are under threat\, is the reason we decided to make “Headwinds” the title track of the CD. Political and social headwinds are making it hard to get back “hom e’ to our greatness as a nation. We want to push back in a positive way ag ainst those winds.”

In addition to singing and writing\, Pete and Maura are multi-instrumentalists. The thirteen songs are cast in a soundsc ape that draws from the classic canon of American roots\, in keeping with the theme of getting back “home” as a nation. Acoustic and electric guitar s\, a vintage steel guitar\, a gospel-inflected piano/organ mix\, and even a slide ukulele all add colors to a song bag of sounds that have drawn us together during hard times. Pete and Maura believe that those sounds stil l have the power to pull us through again.

The Kennedys began thei r writing and touring life three decades ago as members of Nanci Griffith’ s Blue Moon Orchestra\, developing their own sound as a frequent support a ct on Nanci’s tours across America\, Ireland\, Scotland and England. Colla borations with Nanci continued\, culminating in Pete and Maura producing h er final album\, “Intersections.” Along the way\, they hosted a nationwide radio program\, “The Dharma Cafe” on Sirius/XM\, wrote and released sixte en CDs of original music\, and have been core artists on folk radio\, expa nding their audience further with the inception of the AAA and Americana f ormats.

Presen ting the Reunion Tour of “On A Winter’s Night” from veteran singer-songwri ters that remain among the brightest stars of the singer/songwriter moveme nt for the past three decades. In 1994 Christine Lavin gathered them toget her\, along with folk and Americana artists to showcase music of the Winte r Season on the now-classic On A Winter’s Night CD\, followed by several y ears of touring collaborations. These artists have released dozens of reco rdings and toured steadily through the decades\, with fond memories of the ir touring days together. The winter season is again celebrated by these u nique and popular performers\, back together by popular demand.

One of the most original songsmiths currently on tour \, Eberhardt is a highly intelligent\, articulate artist whose penetrating and profound lyrics are sometimes overshadowed by his extraordinary guita r playing. Upon close listening\, the Philadelphia-born singer’s gift for the English language is abundantly clear. The words that tumble from his m outh are framed by a raspy yet deeply elegant voice. Like John Hammond and Richie Havens\, Eberhardt continues to carry the torch for traditional an d contemporary folk music through his strong live shows. Whether he’s out on tour solo or with a small band\, Eberhardt’s guitar playing\, singing\, and original folk songs and blues make for a compelling\, thought-filled\ , emotional roller coaster of a concert.

Hailed b y Rolling Stone as “the leading singer/songwriter of the New Folk movement \,” John Gorka is perhaps the quintessential singer-songwriter of the 90’s folk scene. Originally from New Jersey\, John served an apprenticeship at Godfrey Daniels coffeehouse in Bethlehem\, PA\, then the Greenwich Villag e Fast Folk scene. Winning the prestigious New Folk award at the Kerrville Folk Festival\, in 1984\, he was then signed to Red House Records on whic h he released his landmark first of 17 recordings\, I Know. Boston Globe p enned Gorka “for the sophisticated intelligence and the provocative origin ality of his songs.” Recent accolades include 2016’s Indie Acoustic Projec t’s Best Singer/Songwriter CD of the Year for Before Beginning (Red House Records). 2018 brought his latest release\, and 14th of his career\, True In Time (Compass Records). Jim Kweskin is the founder of the legendary 1960s Jim Kweskin Jug Band with Fritz Richmond\, G eoff Muldaur\, Maria Muldaur\, Mel Lyman\, and Bruno Wolfe. During the fiv e years they were together\, they successfully transformed the sounds of p re-World War II rural music into a springboard for their good-humored perf ormances. Their imitators were legion\, including a San Francisco jug band that became the Grateful Dead\, a Los Angeles jug band that became the Ni tty Gritty Dirt Band\, and a New York jug band that became the Lovin’ Spoo nful. No other group attained their unique blend of youthful energy and an tiquarian expertise\, tight musicianship\, loose camaraderie\, and infecti ous swing.

The concert will feature songs from Jim’s soon-to-be-re leased recording on StorySound Records\, Never Too Late: Jim Kweskin\, Duets with My Friends\, which will be released on Friday\, January 26 \, 2024. The show will also feature artists and songs from Jim’s storied career\, including the renowned and influential Jim Kweskin Jug Band.

Scheduled to appear along with Jim Kweskin\, are Maria Muldaur\, Geof f Muldaur\, Samoa Wilson\, Annie Raines\, Paul Rishell\, Juli Crockett\, S uzy Thompson\, and Matthew Berlin. Additional artists appearing will be a nnounced soon.

Mike Laureanno hails from Fall River\, MA an old mill-town infamous for its axe wielding resid ent Lizzie Borden and famous for its chow mein sandwiches and pork pies.\n
\nA passionate performer\, Mike’s songs are visceral and evoc ative. He is proud of his roots and many of his songs deal with his gritty blue collar hometown and the lives of his family and friends. He is a win ner of the 2017 Wildflower\, TX songwriting contest\, the 2016 Woody Guthr ie songwriting contest and a 2016 Kerrville New Folk\, TX finalist.
\n< p>Mike is also a skilled recording engineer\, producer and veteran sideman . He produced and recorded all of his albums in his home studio and he ser ved twelve years as the bass player for the legendary New York City FAST FOLK Musical Magazine founder\, Jack Hardy.

Bristol-RI-based singer-songwriter Michelle Saylors was raised on a 30-acre fa rm in bible-belt Tennessee. Early musical inspirations include country\, b luegrass-gospel\, folk and Memphis blues. Michelle performed bluegrass mus ic in the early 90s at festivals such as Lester Flat Bluegrass Festival an d the Country Showdown. Michelle moved to New England in 1998 and landed i n Rhode Island in 2009 where she became involved in the Rhode Island Songw riters Association. Michelle played at the Bluebird Café in Nashville at S ongwriters open mics on several occasions. Michelle performed at the Provi dence Folk Festival in 2014 and the Rhode Island Folk Festival in 2022.

In July of 2024\, Michelle released her solo debut album titled “Hit the Creek” which features 10 original songs written solely by Michelle. T he album has been well-received by fans and continues to gain momentum on streaming platforms nationally and recently hit the UK. Her songwriting is rooted both physically and metaphorically by the space and distance betwe en small town Tennessee and coastal New England. Michelle is currently wor king on her second album. She identifies her musical style as Nashville bl ues-country/bluegrass/folk.

Her background is as varied as the songs she writes. Her father\, Herb Gardner \, is a stride pianist and dixieland trombonist. Abbie didn’t get into mus ic school on her original instrument (flute)\, but graduated summa cum lau de with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She gradually found her way back to music in Boston’s folk music scene.

During the pandemic\, Abbi e started teaching free Woodshed dobro lessons in her backyard and posting them to YouTube. Helping ot her people fan the flames of their creativity has always been a nice balan ce to performing. Mike Laureanno< /strong> hails from Fall River\, MA an old mill-town infamous for its axe wielding resident Lizzie Borden and famous for its chow mein sandwiche s and pork pies. A passionate performer\, Mike’s songs are visceral and e vocative. He is proud of his roots and many of his songs deal with his gri tty blue collar hometown and the lives of his family and friends. Bristol-RI-based singer-songwriter Michelle Saylors was raised on a 30-acre farm in bible-belt Tennessee. Early mu sical inspirations include country\, bluegrass-gospel\, folk and Memphis b lues. Michelle performed bluegrass music in the early 90s at festivals suc h as Lester Flat Bluegrass Festival and the Country Showdown. Michelle mov ed to New England in 1998 and landed in Rhode Island in 2009 where she bec ame involved in the Rhode Island Songwriters Association. Michelle played at the Bluebird Café in Nashville at Songwriters open mics on several occa sions. Michelle performed at the Providence Folk Festival in 2014 and the Rhode Island Folk Festival in 2022.

In July of 2024\, Michelle rel eased her solo debut album titled “Hit the Creek” which features 10 origin al songs written solely by Michelle. The album has been well-received by f ans and continues to gain momentum on streaming platforms nationally and r ecently hit the UK. Her songwriting is rooted both physically and metaphor ically by the space and distance between small town Tennessee and coastal New England. Michelle is currently working on her second album. Growing up near Philadelphia\, Charlo tte Morris found her passion for music early\, learning multiple instrumen ts and writing songs by age twelve. Influenced by folk classics and female storytellers like Joni Mitchell and Brandi Carlile\, she developed a genu ine\, raw\, and emotional style.
\n
After touring with “Lonesome Trav eler” in 2018\, performing alongside folk legends\, Charlotte released her debut EP “To New York\, with Love\,” followed by the “Sputnik” EP and a n ational acoustic tour. Her first full-length album\, “Songs For My Next Ex ” (2020)\, received critical acclaim\, prompting her move to Nashville in 2021.

There\, she participated in The Johnny Mercer Foundation’s S ongwriters Project\, mentored by industry greats. In 2022\, Charlotte part nered with Charlotte Avenue Entertainment\, releasing impactful singles li ke “Good Kind of Hurt” and “Tennessee.” Her second studio album\, “Wild Ch ild” (2023)\, gained international recognition. After a 30-city internatio nal tour in 2024\, Charlotte returned to Philadelphia\, with new music and tours on the horizon. She holds a degree in Theatre from Northwestern Uni versity.

In late 2024\, Laurie MacAllister embarked on an exciting new c hapter\, launching a solo career with a sold-out performance at the legend ary Club Passim.
\n
Two decades earlier\, she co-founded the beloved Americana trio Red Molly\, which released seven acclaimed albums and toure d both the U.S. and internationally\, including appearances at MerleFest\, Cayamo\, and Boston Symphony Hall.
\n
Along the way\, ad executives heard Laurie’s voice on the Red Molly album “Never Been to Vegas” and invi ted her to sing the iconic Folgers Coffee jingle for a national TV commerc ial.
\n
Her 2018 self-produced solo album “The Lies the Poets Tell” i s a heartfelt tribute to the contemporary folk music scene\, celebrating a handful of its best songs and songwriters. It features duets with six mal e artists\, including the late Americana master Jimmy LaFave. SiriusXM pra ised the album as “Defining. A curated collection packed with emotional vi brancy.”

Laurie’s earlier solo album “The Things I Choose To Do” w as produced by folk luminary Cliff Eberhardt and was first released indepe ndently. Hearing it\, Barnes & Noble re-released it as an exclusive on the ir label\, saying\, “MacAllister wholly inhabits these songs as subtly as a chameleon\, convincingly taking on the persona’s skin\, quite simply sin ging her heart out.”
